Oceanport Teen Passes Away After Long Cancer Battle

OCEANPORT: Word On The Shore is sad to report that Oceanport teenager Alexander Munoz has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

The 16-year-old Shore Regional student has been fighting brain and spinal cancer but unfortunately passed way at 3:05 p.m. on Nov. 11, according to a post by Munoz's parents on Facebook.

Munoz was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a grade four malignant brain tumor, in 2013 and was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of the cancer in his spine.

Several fundraisers have been held over the last few months to support Munoz and his family and he was even honored at the Halloween night Shore Regional football game. The most recent one was held on Nov. 4 at Enzo's Pizzain Oceanport, where a huge crowd came out to support Team Alex, a fundraising the campaign created to support him.

Word On The Shore extends it thoughts and sympathy to friends and family of Alex Munoz.
