Sea Bright: That’s what more than 30 swimmers did on Monday morning at Chapel Beach Club from 8:30am until 10:30am. It was the annual American Cancer Society Swim Marathon. It is an annual event to help raise money and awareness about cancer. Some of the kids had already been to field hockey practice and some left to go to camp for the day when they were done.
The swimmers from all over the Two River area gathered pledges based on the number of laps they swam during the two hour event. The Chapel Beach Club Swim team raised more than $2,000.00. The event was coordinated by Adele and Gerri Kellet, in memory of James Kellet, Adele’s father who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2001.
Gerri Kellett was delighted to see so many swimmers participating in the event, “It is a great way for the children of the Chapel Beach Swim Team to raise money for cancer research and education while having fun”.
