LONG BRANCH: The weather was perfect for the annual Columbus Day Parade in Long Branch for the crowd that lined the sidewalks of streets of the city.

The parade began at Long Branch Middle School, turned right on Broadway, and ended on Morris Avenue at the Morris Avenue School.

School bands from neighboring towns, The VFW Post 2140, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider and West Long Branch Mayor Janet Tucci were among the marchers that made up the hour and a half festivities.

A special guest, Cecilia Purrazzella was serenaded by the RockNRoll Chorus on her 88th Birthday as she enjoyed the parade from her special chair on the viewing stand. Song writer Robert John sang his "Lion Sleeps Tonight" hit song to add the Cecilia's merriment.
