OCEAN TOWNSHIP: The following is a press release from the Ocean Township Police:
On June 24 at approximately 4:45 a.m. patrols responded to the Speedway gas station along Highway 35 for a commercial burglary alarm. As Officer David Marino arrived, he observed a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Further investigation revealed that the accused, later identified as Rasul Amin Muhammad, 58, of Long Branch was in possession of stolen property belonging to Speedway gas station. He was placed under arrest and transported to the station for processing.
Detective Orbach was also able to identify Muhammad as being involved in an additional commercial burglary that had occurred at the American Way convenience store on June 22, 2016.
Muhammad was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools. He was transported to the county jail pending his initial court appearance.
