Red Bank Regional Student Dies Off Campus

LITTLE SILVER: A Red Bank Regional student died suddenly off campus on Monday evening, April 7.

The cause of death for sophomore Grace Giffen, 16, of Millstone, is still unknown.

RBR Superintendent James Stefankiewicz issued the following statement to Word on the Shore on Wednesday morning:

"RBR is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of one our students, sophomore Grace Giffen. Our hearts go out to Grace’s family. We have no specific information regarding the student’s death to share at this time. Of paramount concern is the well being of our students and staff during this difficult time. Counselors at RBR are available to students and staff to assist in coping with this tragic loss."

Some after school activities including Wednesday's creative writer's performance and Thursday's international night have been cancelled in the wake of Giffen's death.

Giffen is the third RBR student who has died in the last two school years. Riyadh'na Farrow and Albert Martin both died of natural causes during the 2012-13 school year.
