Removed West End Trees Will Be Replaced

The removal of the trees that line Brighton Avenue in Long Branch's West End has caused a stir in the community.

However, the city has stated that all the trees will ultimately be replaced and were removed as part of the Brighton Avenue streetscape project.

The project includes the installation of new concrete sidewalks, new pavers between the sidewalk and curb, new street lighting, tree grates, underground utility services, manholes & inlets, new street lights and traffic striping.

"Trees have been removed from the area in order for repairs to be made on curbs and sidewalks," according to a post on the Long Branch Facebook page. "New trees will replace these as the project nears completion."

Work on the project has begun and should be completed by early July.
