HOWELL: An Eatontown man was killed in a crash on Route 33 in town on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 7.
Larry Campbell, Jr., 44, of Eatontown, was driving on east on Route 33 in a Ford pickup truck when a 28-year-old Pompton Lakes man driving a Subaru Legacy tried to turn left into the parking lot of The Cabin, a restaurant located on the eastbound side of the highway, just before 3:30 p.m., according to an article on NJ.com.
Campbell's truck overturned when it was hit and he was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was traveling with him and was taken to a local hospital and treated for "serious injuries," according to the article.
The crash is under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and Howell Police, and Webster told NJ.com that a blood sample from the driver of the Subaru showed the presence of alcohol in his system. However, toxicology results, are pending and "those results will assist in determining the role that alcohol played in the collision," Webster told the publication.
