Republican Incumbents Win In West Long Branch

West Long Branch: Unofficial election tallies showed incumbent Republican candidates Mayor Janet Tucci and Councilmen Fred Migliaccio and Chris Neyhart ahead by a comfortable 2 to 1 margin in their race against Democrats Jack Gindi, Mark E. Engel and Melissa Klang in the Nov. 4 Election.

Tucci garnered 1,489 votes while Gindi totaled 768 votes. Migliaccio and Neyhart received 1,517 and 1,441 votes, respectively. Klang and Engel totaled 709 and 655 votes, respectively.

Board of Education counts, immediately after polls closed and not yet finalized, saw strong performance by Kristin Arvanitis among the candidates taking a strong position in the five-contestant list of candidates, with newcomer Meaghan Cavanaugh and returning candidate Paul Christopher following in the contest for three open seats.

Here are the vote totals for each candidate:

Arvanitis: 1,083

Cavanaugh: 809

Christopher: 870

Hunter: 606

Olsen: 775

For the Shore Regional Board of Education elections, Ron O'Neill was voted in for West Long Branch along with Tadeusz J. Szczurek and Richard G. McKenna of Oceanport.

All the unofficial results include mail-in ballots but not provisional ballots.
