Sea Bright: Under gray rainy skies, steps away from the ocean and a week away from the unofficial start of the summer on the Jersey Shore a concerned group hosted a fundraiser for Sea Bright. The event was put together by S.E.A. and Sea Bright Partnership Inc. In less than 2 months, a committee of 6 put together a fundraiser to make sure that residents and visitors to the public beach in Sea Bright are safe this season.
After Superstorm Sandy wrecked havoc last October, fundamental safety equipment needs to be replaced. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the purchase of new lifeguard stands, rescue boats, radio equipment, uniforms, and umbrellas to name but a few items. More than 50 gift baskets, donated by local businesses lined the room, awaiting bidding. There were sporting event tickets, concert tickets, apparel items and a vacation package to be go to the highest bidder.
For $5.00 you could purchase a t shirt designed by a former Wall resident now living in Bradenton, Florida. Her name is Vaness Gianmanco and she and her students have already raised $1,200 for the group. As well they donated 140 t shirts to be sold at the fundraiser. Live entertainment was provided by Bob Carney, a musician who travellled from Long Island on Sunday morning for the event.
