Sandy Hook: Earlier this week, The Haven, took the summer stage at Sandy Hook in front thousands of beach-loving concert goers to be part of the Sand Hook Foundation’s Summer Concert Series. Around 6:00pm, The Haven, started belting out tunes from: The Who, The Beatles, The Doors, The Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard and others.
Concerts on the Hook are a uniquely free experience. Thousands of people gather with family and friends to celebrate life, listen to good music, enjoy food, beverages, and company. Groups mark their spots with flags, tents, and tables. The overwhelming sense of community is as much of a draw as the bands themselves.
As the band played, a 50/50 raffle was being held to raise money to offset the costs of the concerts series as well as to raise money to for the Sandy Hook Foundation itself. At the end of the night, one lucky winner walked home with a little over $6400. The monies raised goes right back into the preservation of Sandy Hook. The additional funding goes well beyond where local, state, and federal funding stops.
