SEA BRIGHT: A recent Sea Bright beach committee meeting ended with the group agreeing not to make any changes to the borough's beach fees in 2017.
"The consensus was status quo," Borough Administrator Joseph Verruni said at the Nov. 10 Sea Bright Council workshop meeting. "No changes to fees, or locker fees or fees for dailies or anything like that right now."
Daily badges will remain $8, including weekends, season badges will be $100 each, and senior (65 +) and disabled person season badges will continue to cost $35 each. There is no fee for children through age 11 and no fee for active military personnel and their family members.
Seasonal beach badges will be sold at Borough Hall beginning Dec. 1 for $50 through March 31.
Verruni said another committee recommendation was to add 10 more beach lockers.
"All of ours were rented out last year and we think we can still generate a little more revenue and provide a service," Verruni said.
Season locker rentals will also remain at $250.00 each.
Beach Manager Don Kline is also meeting with Highlands to see if the borough can provide lifeguards to the neighboring town for a fee. Verruni said the borough could also barter so it could use Highlands' street sweeper.
Verruni added that the borough may begin a pilot program where the borough would provide lifeguard services to local beach clubs.
"They would pay us to guard their beach, not their pool," Verruni said.
