Sea Bright Beach Fees Will Not Change In 2016

SEA BRIGHT: There will be no change in the borough's beach fees for 2016.

The Sea Bright Council voted unanimously to keep the same price for beach bases and beach lockers during its Nov. 16 meeting.

Daily beach badges will remain $8, seasonal badges will be continue to be $100 and the price for beach lockers will remain flat at $250. As always, seniors and disabled persons can purchase seasonal badges for $35 and children under 12 years of age can enter the beach at no cost.

The council also decided to continue to sell discounted seasonal beach badges from Dec. 1 through March 31, 2016 for $50.

There was some discussion at the last Sea Bright Council workshop meeting by Councilman William Keeler about increasing the price of beach badges due to the "improved beach facilities." Keeler proposed charging $9 for daily badges and $120 for seasonal badges.

Mayor Dina Long said she did not want to increase the price of badges in 2016 because the council is considering adding paid parking to the large municipal lot, the lot behind borough hall and the Anchorage lot. She said she did not think it would be fair to increase the price of badges and charge for parking.

The council has not yet made any decisions on paid parking but did authorize the borough administrator to draft a request for proposals (RFP) for companies that specialize in creating paid parking plans for towns.
