Sea Bright Officials To Revisit Idea Of Parking Pay Stations

SEA BRIGHT: Borough officials will likely revisit the possibility of adding paid parking to borough lots after the summer season.

Sea Bright Councilman Brian Kelly said if the plan was implemented, pay stations would be located in the municipal lot, behind Sea Bright Borough Hall and the Anchorage Beach parking lot.

The council discussed doing so earlier this year, but ultimately decided against the plan.

"We're going to consider that again and recommend having free parking for residents and make sure there is a business parking side," Kelly said.

Kelly said there would also be no paid parking along streets. He added that it would also only be in place during summer moths.

"It seems like it would be a good revenue generator and we've been recommending it for a while," Kelly said. "Hopefully in the offseason, we can go ahead and move the ordinance forward and have it done for next year."

The council will likely discuss the possibility of purchasing and installing the parking meters at a future meeting.

Several businesses have said they oppose paid parking stating that visitors will go elsewhere if pay stations are installed.
