SEA BRIGHT: The borough has purchased a Barber Beach Rake to help clean and maintain its beaches.
The Sea Bright Council passed a resolution approving the purchase of the beach rake at its Aug. 14 special meeting.
The total cost of the beach rake is $53,942 and the borough is using money from its Beach Capital Outlay for its purchase.
The volunteer group Sea Bright Embracing Action also donated $16,000 toward its purchase.
The borough has been thinking about purchasing its own beach rake for a number of months after previously renting one from Long Branch to handle borough beaches.
Newly hired Sea Bright Beach Manager Don Klein called the beach rake "a good purchase" for the borough during the meeting.
