LONG BRANCH: The annual Senior Center Bazaar lent its touch of holiday flair as tables were filled with hand crafted items most suitable for gifts and for snacking on sweets. Some of those may likely be used as tasty items for Santa when he arrives with a sleigh full of toys for anxious youngsters.
The center gets lots of support and contributors, many from clubs that meet regularly at the Second Avenue location the city has for attending to senior citizen activities.
Roughly half the proceeds go back to offset costs for programs that are run there all year.
Support also comes from the attention provided by city council members and this year also by Assemblyman Eric Houtaling seen here at the Monmouth University table manned by MU students as part of their School of Social Work hands-on learning.
Refreshments were provided as an added incentive to customers, many of whom return year after year for the socializing and the gif shopping.
