West Long Branch: The Shore Regional High School commencement was held at the MAC on Wednesday. The 171 excited graduates filling the facility on the campus of Monmouth U., some for the very first time. The movable seats along the courtside were filled with families and friends. On the stage under the electronic scoreboard and TV screen were the Board of Education members, School Administrators, Interim Superintendent Rena LaPrete, the Class of 2012.
Class Advisor Vanessa Miano, who announced the names of the graduate, as LaPrete assisted Board President Ron O’Neill in handing out the diplomas and adding congratulations.
O’Neill’s message was, “Don’t take things for granted. Success is a journey. Don’t waste time a single day.” “It is another 70 days away", O’Neill reminded. He cited the accomplishments to improve the facilities and enhance the programs.
As she certified the student as eligible for graduation, LaPrete announced that $6,000,000 in scholarships had been donated to help students go on with education. She praised the class for its tireless efforts in community service, academics, arts and sports.
Salutatorian Abigail Reinhard described the individuality of all her classmates, some serious, others humorous. Valedictorian Chelsey Henderson spoke about “Looking Back, Looking Forward” recalling the support from parents, teachers and the community.
Shore Regional is the high school for Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Sea Bright and West Long Branch. Congrats Class of 2012!!!
