West Long Branch: The doors of Shore Regional High School were open on Thursday morning to welcome the Class of 2018.
Honor Society and volunteer upper classmates cheered the new students with Alohas and Hawaiian leis as the came through the doors and proceeded to staging areas (classrooms) where they received their schedules and Chrome book forms, met new friends and awaited the Orientation Meeting in the main auditorium.
SRHS Principal Mr. DalliCardillo welcomed them and introduced Superintendent Tom Farrell who set the tone for the day and for the students as they leave the elementary system and enter the next step toward their future goals.
Other speakers included Mr. Fiorillo, who emphasized attendance and its importance to achieving graduation and grades; Mr. Chebookjian, emphasizing the value of sports and social endeavors, with the emphasis on student in the phrase “student-athletes”; Dr. Baubles who emphasized opportunity and the open door policy for students looking for activities of interest and Mr. Warner and Ms. Ross, who spoke about other matters for the new high schoolers.
On Thursday evening there was also an orientation session for parents to tour of the school and to ask questions about programs and address concerns.
