Local artists Lisa Grob and Pratima Rao at the Guild
Shrewsbury: Two local artists joined together to put on a new show at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury. Lisa Grob, former biology teacher and FBI Agent turned painter, and Pratima Rao, a former engineer at ATT turned painter have put together a show that truly compliments one another’s work.
The show is made up of local scenes you are sure to recognize, Holmdel Park, the waterfront in Belford and Rumson just to name a few. Both are accomplished “Plein Air” painters with awards from nationally juried shows and members of the PAPJC (Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast). The group of painters meet on Mondays, to paint outdoors, weather permitting.
Grob paints in water colors, while Rao paints in oils, their close color palette, works together in a unique way both use natural light to paint and capture local scenery. They met while painting with the group and Grob suggested they use the space at the Guild to display their work. Many long hours of painting, framing and hanging the show have paid off. You can now see their work in a local show.
The show will be on display until September 26, 2012. The Guild Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday 8 am-4:30 pm, Thursday 8 am-7pm, and Saturday 10 am-4:30pm, the Guild is closed on Sunday and Monday.
