Shrewsbury: This past weekend, Shrewsbury Borough School presented the production of Walt Disney’s High School Musical Jr. Produced and directed by Kelly Silver Fanders produced and directed the musical which ran throughout the weekend.
The general company included students from all grade ranges while older students filled the roles of the: Brainiacs, Cheerleaders, Jocks, and Thespians.
The basic story brings both braniac Gabrielle (Danielle Wolf) and basketball player Troy (Andrew Costa) together as they leave their natural skills to try out for the upcoming school musical. Throughout the story, both Troy and Gabrielle face internal and external conflict as they finally decide to give up their calling to soar for new heights by trying out for the upcoming musical.
The two-act musical was centered on well-rehearsed singing, dancing, and Disney like humor, which everyone could relate to. After a twenty-minute intermission, the second act picked up right where the first left off.

With all of the foreshadowing done in the first act, the second act began to play itself out. Troy and Gabrielle decided to chase their dream, and pursue a role in the upcoming play. As with any good drama, both Troy and Gabrielle were able make the callback for the play and then return to both the science contest and basketball game, where they happened to lead their teams to victory.
This production of High School Musical Jr. was well attended and well received by the audience. Each student that participated in the play should be proud of themselves. The performance was fun, energetic, and filled with character. A Hit!
