Oceanport: Oceanport celebrated the end of summer by holding the 37th annual “Summer’s End Festival” at Blackberry Bay Park. Residents and friends gathered for an afternoon corn hole and horseshoe tournament before returning for an evening of fun with family and friends.
By 6:00pm, the crowd began to grow. Shortly after a series of announcements by: Mayor Mahon, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.,(D) and the Recreation Committee, the festival started with several live demonstrations by dance troupes and karate groups that call Oceanport home.
In addition to these demonstrations and performances, children were able to enjoy themselves by climbing a large portable rock wall, bounce on several inflatable rides, or throw balls at the ever-popular dunk tank.
For those that didn’t bring their own food and snacks there was cotton candy, popcorn, and other vendors selling a variety of carnival fare throughout the evening.

As children played in the park, parents and elders set up chairs and picnic tables that they used for tail gaiting before the fireworks began. Clearly, this event was as much for them as it was for the children.
Shortly after dark, fireworks lit the night sky above the park. Everyone in attendance was treated to a wonderful display, which marked the official end of summer in Oceanport.
