The British Invasion Does Thursday by the Sea at Pier Village

LONG BRANCH: “Hang on Sloppy” by the McCoy's hit the top of the pop music charts in 1965.

The latest resurrection of the classic song was again brought to the stage at Pier Village on Thursday by The British Invasion at Patriots Plaza in Long Branch as part of the city's Summer Music Series that is free to enjoy all season.

The crowd of 400+ sang along or lip-synched Sloppy along with “Born to be Wild” and two hours of great oldies and newbies that excited the large crowd.

The 50-50 drawing got some attention, too. It is a funding mechanism for the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation that helps with the programs.

Don't miss the Blues By The Beach shows at West End Park at Brighton & Ocean Avenues, near the Windmill. They are on Sundays at 7 p.m. This week will bring the SoulProject band on June 29.

Then comes the summer blast, Oceanfest, on July Fourth. That all-day event always fills the Long Branch Promenade with games, food and fun, with fireworks at dusk.
