OCEANPORT: One of Monmouth Park's most popular events of the summer kicked off on Saturday, May 27 with the annual Food Truck Festival.
Over 40 food trucks rolled into the park and thousands of people gathered to greet them and sample their unique culinary creations. Among this year's attendees are Empanada Guy, Wild Bill's Soda, Red Hook Lobster and local favorite, Enzo's Deli.
The food trucks first rolled into Monmouth in 2012 for a one-day event, which has expanded in size and scope to what it is today. In 2016, the festival area was expanded to increase space for lines and foot traffic. The footprint was increased even more this summer and lines seemed to flow even better, giving everybody a chance to try their favorite food truck's offerings.
After The Reign hit the stage Saturday, Brent & Co will be performing Saturday and The Rory Daniels Band will the final act on the last day of the festival on Monday.
The Food Truck Festival continues Sunday, May 28 and will span all Memorial Day Holiday weekend.
Gates will open early at 11 am Sunday, as the day features the full-slate of Family Fun Day activities, including a bounce house, clowns, pony rides, face painters and more. On Monday, gates open at 11:30 a.m.
Over the three-day holiday weekend first post will be 12:50 p.m. Admission to the Grandstand, where the food trucks assemble, is $5 - seniors pay $3 and children 12 and under are free.
