LONG BRANCH: Pier Village's summer concert series got off to quick start as Tim McLoone and the Shirleys songstress trio hit the boardwalk stage.
The band was its exciting self as fans in numbers made their way to the oceanfront theater with folding chairs and lawn blankets to enjoy McLoone's annual visit.
Mayor Adam Schneider welcomed the group, a change from the past when productions were the works of now retired Barry Stein who ran the show for the Long Branch Urban Enterprise Zone.
A lot of familiar faces applauded at the familiar melodies: "Do Run Run" from the late '60s; "Under the Boardwalk", same period; "Higher and Higher" the song Jackie Wilson wrote wand sang.
Next on June 14 at 7 p.m. it's Blues By The Beach in West End Park with the Demolition Dogs. Next week's Thursday By The Sea at Pier Village will be the "B Street Band."
Mark on your calendar the Annual Cruise to the Jersey Shore on June 21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with music by The Cameos on the Great Lawn.
