Tinton Falls School District No Longer Interested in Fort Monmouth Parcel

TINTON FALLS: Another portion of Fort Monmouth will be available to developers after the Tinton Falls School District has indicated it is no longer interested in acquiring the property.

At its December meeting, the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) board voted to make the Child Development Center available through the request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) process.

The nearly 20,000-square-foot facility is located near Corregidor Road in Tinton Falls on a 7.4-acre parcel adjacent to Hope Road and includes a recreational playground.

The space was originally going to be used as a new school for the Tinton Falls School District, but accruing to the RFOTP, the borough "has indicated that this use is no longer needed." It is unclear why the district is no longer interested in the the property.

The resolution passed by FMERA states that staff has received "specific interest" in the Childhood Development Center for commercial reuse. This would require a Fort Monmouth Reuse Plan amendment as it was originally envisioned for an institutional use and the area is zoned for office/research and development.

The RFOTP for the property should be sent out in the next few weeks.
