The building located at the east end of Broadway, Long Branch, that housed the former Towne Auto Sales was torn down this week to make way for a new CVS- the first new construction downtown seen since redevelopment.
The CVS will have more of a seaport look and was designed to have some of the features included in Pier Village such decorative lighting. It will also feature a drive thru for prescriptions, 60 new parking spaces, new shade trees and sidewalks and will also feature a more durable material than the stucco that is usually used at other locations. Stucco does not hold up well in areas next to the ocean because the salt water in the air can damage it.
Construction of the new CVS could begin soon and may be complete by late fall.
