OCEAN TOWNSHIP: A man who was hit by a car while attempting to cross Route 35 just north of the Asbury Circle, has died.
According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Friday night, Nov. 20 and the man was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
The 42-year-old Morris County man, whose name has has not yet been released by investigators, was hit by a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 27-year-old Neptune City woman near the Super 8 Motel. The area around the motel was detoured for a few hours while the scene was processed.
The Ocean Township Police say the man was crossing front the northbound side to the southbound side in an area that was not marked as a crosswalk.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the Ocean Township Police Department and the county's Serious Collision Analysis Response Team are investigating the incident.
