The temporary cell tower will be built in the parking lot behind Sea Bright Borough Hall, 1167 Ocean Ave., in the next few weeks to help improve communication in the borough.
The structure will be movable and will not be as high as the 105-foot cell tower will erect in the future.
Verizon was awarded a $34,012 contract in 2014 to construct a 105-foot and ancillary wireless telephone support equipment and structures. The tower will be a "flagless flag pole" design that the council felt would be more aesthetically pleasing than a traditional cell tower.
Verizon needs approval from CAFRA and the Sea Bright Planning Board before it can build its permanent cell tower. There is no definitive timeline as to when Verizon will get the approvals it needs to move forward at this time.
