EATONTOWN: The Pride In Eatontown Committee is inviting volunteers to take part in the annual Eatontown Cleanup Day on Sunday, April 27.
Volunteers will gather at 1 p.m. in the parking lot behind Eatontown Borough Hall to get their assignments, trash bags, gloves and vests for those looking to pick up litter near busy roads. Those who register before the event can go directly to their assigned site.
Pride in Eatontown Chair Judy Bretzger said she is hoping to see an increase in the record number of volunteers that came out for last year's cleanup. One hundred and forty individuals, business groups, scouts and civic organizations came out to clean up some of the worst litter spots in town in 2013.
Those who need transportation to their pickup site can be transported on the borough bus or join a car pool at the gathering place being borough hall.
Pizza and cold drinks will be available for volunteers when the cleanup is over. Certificates of appreciation will be given to all volunteers and groups who recruit five or more members for the cleanup will receive special recognition at a future meeting of the Eatontown Council.
Full trash bags will be picked up and disposed by the Eatontown Department of Public Works and officers from the Eatontown Police Department will be on hand to ensure the safety of all participants.
To register for the cleanup, call Judy at 732-542-0963 or email her at email@example.com.
