West End Board with Sandy

Long Branch:  West End merchants were busy boarding up late this afternoon in preparation for Hurricane Sandy which is bareing down on the Jersey Shore with our area in the cross-hairs.  The October Frankenstorm is expected to bring hurricane force winds over 75mph for a lengthy period and local businesses weren't taking any chances with flying debris.

West End Beach was all but gone this afternoon as the east wind continues to pile up pounding surf on the already exposed and eroded beaches in the city.

But even with the pending storm, local businesses and taverns were doing a brisk business.   Jack's Goal Line Stand on Brighton was packed for the Giants-Dallas game with fans not showing much concern for Sandy....at least that was the feeling as the Giants held on to defeat Dallas in a nail-biter finish.

All businesses in Long Branch serving alcohol are under order to close by 2am Monday morning with a city-wide curfew in place from dusk till dawn during the storm.   No one is permitted along the shoreline during Hurricane Sandy and the LBPD  is requesting residents stay clear of Ocean Ave during the weather emergency.
