WEST LONG BRANCH: A discussion on the dangers of heroin to young people will be held at a borough school tonight, Feb. 9.
Frank Antonides School will host the discussion, which is sponsored by the school district, the Oceanport School District, Shore Regional and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, at 7 p.m. in the middle school's cafeteria.
Any and all local parents and guardians of students are welcome to attend the meeting.
A flyer for the event states that heroin-related deaths have risen by 24 percent for in people ages 18-25.
The prosecutor's office has taken steps to try to prevent heroin-related deaths by hosting similar events for parents and students in the area. NARCAN has also been used by local police departments to help save the lives of people who have overdosed on the drug.
