West Long Branch Shopping Center Closed Following Halloween Fire

WEST LONG BRANCH: All the stores in the Carriage Square shopping center in the borough are closed following a fire that severely damaged three businesses on Oct. 31.

The fire was contained to Giane Beauty Care, Nails Limited and Peking Taste. The three stores received the worst damage but all of the businesses in the strip mall, located at 175 Monmouth Rd., are closed due to smoke damage. It is unknown how long they will be closed.

A call to the West Long Branch Fire Marshal's office seeking further information was not immediately returned on Monday morning.

There have been reports that the fire started in the nail salon, but there have been no official details.

The 4-alarm fire was reported around 10 a.m. and crews were on the scene for several hours venting the building and extinguishing the fire.
