WEST LONG BRANCH: Sports Authority has announced that 21 of its New Jersey stores will be closing; including the one located in the Consumer Centre in the borough.
The company announced on May 2 that it will liquidate its holdings at a May 16 auction and close all of its 140 stores unless a buyer emerges. If a buyer is found, it is possible that the stores will be saved.
The West Long Branch Sports Authority was one of the first stores to open in the Consumer Centre, located at 310 State Route 36, Set 602.
The other two Monmouth County stores that are on the list to be closed are located in Hazlet and Manalapan.
