WLB “Brian's Light” Project Underway

West Long Branch:  The project for the new traffic light placement and widening of Locust Avenue and Parker Road at the Frank Antonides School is underway.

Seven years ago West Long Branch Traffic Officer Brian Kramer began the required project study and approval paperwork to get the improvements done. That alone was a complicated situation since the intersection is both a municipal and county road crossing.

When all is said and done, the center entrance will be aligned with Parker Ave. Right turns from southbound traffic will have an easier path to turn onto Parker to get to Betty McElmon School.  FAS drop-offs will be easier for parents and school busses.

In addition, the south parking area for the school will be enlarged.

“I really thank Janet (Mayor Janet Tucci) for all the support she has given to the project- contacting our representatives in the county and the state to keep the project moving along, even after Hurricane Sandy last year," said Sgt. Kramer.

It’s hoped the project is complete by the 2014-15 school year.
