WLB Planning Board Members Affirmed

WLB Town Hall

West Long Branch:   At the January 10 meeting of the Planning Board members John Aria, James Meola and James Miller were affirmed by Board Attorney George Cieri to serve until 12-31-12.

The Board Recording Secretary Candace Mitchell and Board Stenographer Lisa Norman and Secretary Joseph Gallo, Vice Chairman Greg Aikens and Chairman Richard Cooper will continue service.

Cirri’s remains as well. His RFP response was accepted at rates of $894 per month and $140 per hour for litigation. His rates have been the same for several years, Cooper said. He said Cieri was familiar with the town, lived here for years, and has served the borough well. Secretary Gallo agreed. With no further member comment, the Board voted to reappoint Cieri. A second applicant had been considered.

T&M Associates will continue as Borough Engineer, a position it has held “for many, many years,” Cooper said. T&M’s was the only response to the borough’s RFP. Board member Kathy Elfner asked about the T&M rate schedule and was told it has been the same as since 2007. A $6.00 per hour increase is proposed and is under negation with the Borough Council to find a rate between the current $143.00 and a $6.00 increase to $149 per hour.

T&M RFPs are also being considered for the governing body and the Zoning Board. The current rate will be used as negotiations are pursued. A lower hourly rate is used when a particular task does not require a Principal Engineer level employee.

Cooper announced meeting dates for 2012 as the second Tuesday of each month, saying there were no obvious date conflicts. “Only Valentine’s Day,” said Mayor Janet Tucci. “No one sees that as a conflict except me? “she asked, drawing smiles from Board members and the audience.

The only application on the evening/s agenda, a Minor Subdivision for Isaac Nassar on Wall Street was rescheduled for next month at the request of the applicant. The reschedule will save transcript costs and Board members time.
