Eatontown Wawa Approved, Again, By Planning Board
By: BobEnglish on 12/9/14
Hard to believe that a left hand turn off the property onto Rt. 35 South would even be an option under consideration. Cars would have to cross two lanes of northbound traffic plus go thru the left hand turning lane (onto Wyckoff Rd.) and then merge in with southbound traffic on 35 S. ...

Eatontown Planning Board Hears Traffic Concerns Over Route 35 Wawa
By: Willow on 10/28/14
The developer's storm water management expert claims that their plan improves the existing situation. I suspect that their plan called for the relocation of the LubeItAll from that site to a wooded lot up the road. I remember driving by the new location soon after Superstorm Sandy and watching them bulldoze the trees. These trees survived Sandy! It was heartbreaking to see them taken out by a bulldozer. So even though they claim that their plan is only a redevelopment of an already developed site, I can't help but think that the true damage was hidden by a slight of hand... The rapid development in this area puts our water supply in jeopardy. I'm not sure if people understand the situation. As the amount of impervious surfaces increase, more rainfall and snowmelt is channeled into rivers and into the ocean instead of percolating through the soil and recharging our aquifers. As the water levels of our aquifers drop below sea level, the pressure from the sea, forces salt water into our ...
Eatontown Council/Mayor Election Preview
By: Willow on 10/28/14
Thank you for publishing this info. I attended the Candidates meeting and found it helpful. But I do wish they would improve communications with the residents so I can find out about important meetings ahead of time, instead of stumbling on it by chance at the last minute. With all this technology, why is communications still an issue?...

Eatontown Historical Committee Looks To Preserve Piece of Borough History
By: Sybilyn on 9/29/14
Beginning of article states BOE sold Steelman school in 2007. Which is accurate. Then toward the end you quote George Jackson as saying the building has not been sold. Please note, Eatontown is no longer the owner of what was Steelman School. Thanks!...

Eatontown To Consider Handling Demolition of Howard Commons Buildings
By: BobEnglish on 9/13/14
My two cents on this: First of all, its a good thing that this is on the Mayor and Councils radar since its a disgrace that Eatontown residents have to live next to the rat hole aka Howard Commons. The problem centers around the fact that federal law prohibits the Military from undertaking any improvements at bases once their closing is announced and after they are ultimately closed. Since they Army/DOD are the owners of Howard Commons, they have hung their hat on that law as the reason why they can not do anything to maintain or demo Howard Commons. The concept now being kicked around, is having another group (in this case the Borough of Eatontown,) front the $$$ for the demo and ultimately be paid back by the Army from the proceeds of the sale of the property. As an fyi, I have attended almost every FMERA meeting for years and have never heard that the Army would be onboard for this kind of arrangement however for know lets go under the assumption that they are. Note that...
